Born on December 25, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Richard lived a full and devoted life marked by service to his country, deep love for his family, and a passion for the simple joys that brought him happiness.
He served honorably in the United States Army for 27 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG E8). A devoted member of the 147th Finance Company in Roseville, Minnesota. His long military career was marked by steadfast commitment and integrity.
For 48 years, Richard shared a loving marriage with his wife, Pamela Lemke. He as a devoted father to Lori (Michael) Mauritz, Rick (Carol) Lemke, Michele (John) Webb, Corey Lemke, Jennifer (Matt) Chappuis, and Pete (Cassandra) Lemke. He will be lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren: Kevin Miltz, Karisa Wingerson, Anthony Miltz, Tyler Tucker, Kacie Quick, Camryn Hill, Hattie Chappuis, Harper Chappuis, Hildey Chappuis, Holdyn Chappuis, Gabby Lemke and Tristen Jensen; and by his 10 great-grandchildren: Aiden Crawford, Dashel Miltz, Beckett Miltz, Violet Miltz, Gabriella Wingerson, Maddelynne Quick, Chance Quick, Jackson Quick, Colton Tucker and Willow Smith.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Opal Lemke, and his sisters Florence and Linda Lemke.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures - casting a line while fishing from shore or boat brought him peace; tinkering in his garage gave him purpose; cheering for the Minnesota Vikings filled him with pride; and attending his grandchildren's sporting events brought him immense happiness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave. N., St. Paul, MN 55106. Visitation begins at 10:00am and a luncheon following the service.
May Richard's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and may he rest eternally in God's grace.
