Melvin J. Houle

born October 11, 1925, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on April 12, 2021.

Preceded in death by daughter, Mary Murphy, and her husband, Phil; and granddaughter, Jennifer Houle.

Survived by his loving wife, Celeste, of 70 years; children: Dennette (Richard) Virock; Melvin (Naomi); David (Nancy); Christine (Patrick) Rice; Jean (James) Kuehl; John (Diane); Michael (Tamara); Thomas (Glenda) and Richard; 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Mel will be remembered as a devoted husband and enjoyed polka dancing with Celeste; he spent many hours helping his children with building and remodeling projects; and he loved spending time with his grandchildren at parks, cabins and family gatherings. Mel enjoyed playing cards, especially, Wizard.

Mel proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corp. He was a faithful servant of the Lord, attending daily mass and praying the rosary everyday for the last 30 years.

He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Blessed Sacrament Church, Our Lady of Peace, or U of M-Jennifer Houle Memorial Scholarship.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 3 - 6 PM at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave., St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:30-11 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2119 Stillwater Ave. E., St. Paul, MN 55119. Interment at St. Genevieve Cemetery immediately following service, Centerville.
