Maryjo graduated from Our Lady of Peace High school and maintained many connections and friendships from there to this day. Throughout life, she was a dedicated public servant, working at the State Capitol and then for the majority of her career at the Department of Driver and Vehicle Services. She was grateful for the welcoming community she found in recent years at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
With her engaging smile and sense of humor, Maryjo was able to connect with people easily and often thought of others before herself. She was a loving and fun-loving person, ready with care packages, nail polish, or holiday-themed trinkets to light up any family gathering with her special brand of joy. Besides caring for people, Maryjo had a tender heart for all animals, braving any weather to feed the backyard birds and squirrels. Known for her beautiful singing, piano playing, and cross-stitch skills, Maryjo found countless ways to bring beauty into life. She also enjoyed the natural beauty of the Lake Superior shore.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Fern (Garbe) Cunningham and her sister Marilyn Cunningham.
Maryjo will be missed by her sisters Michelle Urbanski and Maureen (Randall) Wolhaupter; nephews: Brian (Cathy) Wolhaupter, John (Jodi) Wolhaupter, Shawn (Rhonda) Urbanski, Jason (Jennifer) Urbanski, Andrew (Nicole) Urbanski and Seth Urbanski; five great nephews; five great nieces; two great great nieces; special friends Mary Ann Conkey, Shannon Tambornino, Joseph Warnert, and her cat companion Rocky.
