She was born on June 12, 1969, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Leroy and Johnetta (Williams) Jordan.
Loralean graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield, Illinois in 1987. Loralean earned her Bachelor of Political Studies from Illinois State University. She attended ISU to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother (her namesake) who was the first African American student to attend the University. She went on to earn her Masters in Political Studies/Public Policy from the University of Illinois in Springfield. Loralean was employed as a Recruiting Associate Manager with Accenture, Inc. for the past 15 years. Loralean was passionate about assisting young women and was involved with a local charity, Dress for Success. She cared about higher education and employment and found numerous ways to mentor and support young people.
Loralean was active in her church and community. She was the Ensemble Choir Director for St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN, she served on the St. Peter Claver Church Parish Council, the Knights of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 526, the Junior Daughters, and served as a board member of the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis Catholic Charities Social Justice Committee and Co-chair of the National Knights of St. Peter Claver’s Social Justice Committee. Loralean was recently named 2023 Silver Medalist Service Award recipient of the Knights of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary. Loralean was a heart aneurysm survivor. She served on the Fostering African-American Improvement in Total Health (FAITH!) Community Steering Committee and advocated with the American Heart Association—she proudly told her story in the hopes of saving others’ lives.
Loralean embodied the ideals of her sorority. Her lifetime commitment to Delta Sigma Theta is known to those whose presence she graced. Her commitment to public service throughout the community and the state of MN and beyond will be remembered and cherished.
Loralean was an adventure seeker. She enjoyed travelling, putting her toes in the ocean, meeting new people, exploring nature, making music, researching history – especially family genealogy. She loved spending time with family and friends. Loralean encouraged others to be active; she taught Zumba and spin classes at the YMCA.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Loralean is survived by her mother, Johnetta W. Jordan of Springfield; sisters, Laura A. Jordan of Springfield and Jennifer N. Jordan (Rose White) of Philadelphia, PA; nephews, Christian A. Jordan of St. Louis, MO and Levi C. Jordan-White of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral mass for Loralean will be held Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 375 Oxford Street North, Saint Paul, MN, with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM. The family requests that masks be worn to mitigate COVID risks.
