On October 6, 2021, Katherine Ann (Gerenz) Ochocki (78) was called into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Katherine was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 30, 1943, to Mary Madeline Gerenz (Kenney) and Stephen Max Gerenz. She grew up in the family home before graduating from St. Joseph High School. In November 1965 she married recently discharged U.S. Army veteran Eugene Ochocki in a small Catholic church service.
Over the next thirteen years, Katherine and her former husband had six children. She loved having babies and was a tender and devoted mother to her young children. The family lived in several states in the United States; some of Katherine’s favorites places were New Hampshire, Virginia, and Minnesota, to which she returned during the last decade of her life.
A devout Catholic, she was quick to offer to pray for anyone at any time, and confident that her prayers were heard and answered. A comfortable homebody, Katherine was content to relax in her recliner and watch reruns of favorite television shows including The Rockford Files, Magnum PI, and Murder She Wrote. An enthusiastic dog lover for most of her life, she found joy in spoiling the cats fortunate enough to live with her during her final years.
She is preceded in death by both parents as well as her brother John Gerenz. She is survived by her brother Tom Gerenz and her six children - Curtis (Linda), Craig (Martha), Cynthia (Brian), Charles (Dana), Christopher (Stephanie) and Colin (Ashley), many grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11am. Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made in Katherine’s name to the local Humane Society.
