Jonathan E. Pederson

Passed away peacefully on June 27th, 2014, surrounded by his wife and two sons. Jonathan is preceded in death by his father, Oliver. He is survived by his Wife of 47 Years, Kathy; Children, Mark (Jill), Julie (Andrew), Lisa (Rodrigo) & David; Grandchildren, Lena, Ryan, Todd, Gabriella & Matthew; Mother, Margaret; Siblings, Phoebe (Mark), Luke (Barbara) & Nate. He received his B.S. from Augsburg College in 1968 and his M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1972. After further training and two years of military service in the Public Health Service, he became a professor at the U of M Medical School, specializing in glaucoma, and later spent several years at HCMC. In 1995, he started a private medical practice in opthalmology in Edina, where he worked as a surgeon for nineteen years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, with a love for music, crossword puzzles and international travel, he will be missed for his commitment to his family and his strong Christian faith. Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 8 at 11:00 AM at the Portland Avenue United Methodist Church, 8000 Portland Avenue South in Bloomington. Visitation on Monday, July 7, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to service, all at the church. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Brazilian Church of Hope or to the donor's choice.
