Ethel Blomgren, age 98, died peacefully in her sleep August 20 after a long and fulfilling life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas E. Lisec (d. 1949) and her second husband Thomas E. Blomgren (d. 1991). She was also preceded in death by three sisters Edna Adam, Mabel Gustafson, Irene Booton and two brothers Arthur and Donald Brisson. She is survived by her two children: Thomas Lisec and Linda James (husband Kevin); five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In a remarkable twist of fate, Ethel's younger sister and dearest friend Loey Freiermuth passed away later on the same day as Ethel
Ethel was the picture of resilience and determination. Having lived through the Great Depression and World War II, she knew the perils of adversity yet remained indestructible while exemplifying the joie de vivre of her French-Canadian ancestry. She suffered the pain of outliving so many family members and friends as well as having experienced the joy of loving so many who will remember and miss her. She is loved.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale, MN, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 11:00am with visitation one hour before the service.
