Caroline Ann Pankonin

Caroline Ann Pankonin, age 97, of Woodbury, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2022. Caroline was born October 21, 1924 in Frazee, Minnesota and graduated from Frazee High School, where she played clarinet in the marching band.

Following high school she attended stenography school and moved to the Twin Cities where she worked as a secretary. During that time, she lived with two other ladies who all met and married men that worked for Northwest Airlines. Caroline married Harvey Pankonin at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. After moving to the East Side of St. Paul, the couple attended Eastern Heights Lutheran Church, where Caroline has been a member since 1953. She was a member of the Ladies Guild and Altar Guild at church. Throughout life her hobbies included sewing, crafting, knitting, crocheting, tatting, quilting and gardening.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Emma Illg, husband Harvey Pankonin and his parents Hilda and Ewald Pankonin and her sister Clara Meyer.

She will be missed by her sons Bradley (Karen) Pankonin and Howard Pankonin; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; great nieces and great-great nieces.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM, visitation will begin at 1:00 pm at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church, reception to follow from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.
