Mitchel "Mitch" Paul Landry, age 85, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. Born in Pierre Part, Louisiana, to Cedillia Landry and Joseph Landry, Mitch enriched the lives of those around him with his craftsmanship, generosity, and laid-back demeanor.
Mitch was a skilled woodworker with a passion for creating intricate pieces. His love for building extended to crafting birdhouses, replicas of buildings, and even an entire wharf, showcasing his talent and dedication. Notably, Mitch constructed wooden replicas of the church he attended and the house he called home, leaving behind tangible expressions of his love for his community.
A devoted member of the faith community, Mitch dedicated his time to helping at the church in Pierre Part and later at the Faith Cathedral, where he attended services. As a born-again Christian, Mitch found solace and purpose in his faith, embodying kindness and care in all aspects of his life.
Mitch's easygoing nature and caring personality endeared him to many. He was known for his love of coffee, a simple pleasure that brought comfort and warmth to those fortunate enough to share a cup with him.
Mitch is survived by his stepdaughter, Lisa Champagne (Don Champagne Sr); stepsons Joseph Verdin, Jr (Audrey), Ed Verdin (Stacy); stepdaughter Linda Rogers (Clint Rogers); and stepdaughter Elizabeth "Liz" Reid. grandchildren, Vickie Credeur (Scott), Don Champagne, Jr., (Gayle), Michael Chauvin, Jr., Ashley Terrebonne (Tim), Cheramie Champagne, Cody Chauvin (Jessica), Christian Darden (Blaise), Madalyn Wiese, Tyler Verdin, Lunden Verdin, Joseph “Jojo” Verdin, III., Conner Verdin, Ethan Verdin, , and Ryleigh Verdin; great grandchildren, Hunter Verdin,Michael Bienvenu, III., Tyge Credeur, Alexus Terrebonne, Lad Darden, Wyatt Chauvin, Natalie Davis, Cullen Darden, Walter Darden, and Atlas Massey; and siblings, Alvin Morris Boudreaux, Jr. of Franklin and Elise Boudreaux Bosworth of Scot; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mitch was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Theresa Landry, as well as his father Joseph Landry, mother Cedillia Landry, sister Ann Breaux, brother John Landry, and sister Anna Mae Landry.
A celebration of life service will be held at Faith Cathedral on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 am.
Mitch will be laid to rest privately at a later date, surrounded by the love and memories he leaves behind.
