ST. MARTINVILLE – Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Gladys Simon Thibodeaux Guillot, age 83, at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor Jessie Charpentier of Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 9:00 am until services.
A native of Youngsville and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Guillot passed away on Friday, October 8, 2011, with her family at her side.
Mrs. Guillot was a homemaker and hard worker who cared for the elderly and volunteered her time at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church. She loved her dogs and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Russell Thibodeaux and wife Catherine Broussard Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and Patsy Thibodeaux of St. Martinville; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; Mark Gaudin and wife Jan, Lisa Barnhill, and Michael Boudreaux, whom Mrs. Gladys looked upon as her children; sister, Merline “ShuBee” Coleman of New Iberia; and brothers, Earl Simon of New Iberia, Luther Simon of Baton Rouge, and Leo “Pecot” Simon of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick Thibodeaux; her second husband, Jules Guillot; sons, Gerald Thibodeaux and Larry Thibodeaux; brother, Lawless Simon; grandson, Larry Thibodaux, Jr., and an infant great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Kirk Thibodeaux, Gerald Thibodeaux, Jr., Merline “ShuBee” Coleman, Kenneth and Luther Simon and Joey Bienvenu. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell and Patrick Thibodeaux, Earl Simon, Chris Hebert, Chase and Connor Champagne and “Pecot” Simon.
