ST. MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dorothy Artigue “Dot” Bonvillian 10:00 am Tuesday, January 16, 2017 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Rusty P. Richard will be the celebrant. Mrs. Bonvillian will be laid to rest at St. Michaels Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 10:30 am until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Dorothy was born May 8, 1944 in Arnaudville to the late Joseph Artigue, Jr. and the late Bunice Begnaud Artigue, and passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was 73.
Mrs. Dorothy, affectionately known by family and friends as Dot, was a homemaker and owned and operated Bonvillian’s in St. Martinville for many years. She had a deep faith and lived her life for her family and others. Dot never met a stranger and treated everyone with kindness. Her beautiful smile and gentle heart will forever be remembered and she will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her three children, Carrie B. Pratt and husband Carl, Dawn B. Dugas, and Reggie Bonvillian and wife Dawn; her six granddaughters, Alyse Dugas, Amber Dugas, Marley Bonvillian, Jaiden “JJ” Dugas, Brooke Bonvillian and Chloe’ Pratt; her great granddaughter, Ana Legendre; her brother and sister-in-law, Allen Artigue and wife Sis; her former spouse and friend, Ronnie Bonvillian; and her mother-in-law, Elaine Bonvillian.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Theard Artigue and Ruby Taylor.
Serving as pallbearers are Reggie Bonvillian, Randy Bonvillian, Chris Artigue, David Artigue, Chad Bonvillian, Jason Dugas, Carl Pratt and Travis Bonvillian.
The family would like to extend the heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center for their care and compassion shown to our mother.
In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
