Richard Leon Walker

Richard Leon Walker, born on December 9th, 1934, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, was a man of integrity, courage, and unwavering faith. He passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and an enduring zest for life.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Hays Walker and Myrtle Mae Neuhauser, stepfather J. Calvin Neuhauser, his brother, Charles H. Walker; and his wife of 43 years, Margaret J. Walker.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Maureen Walker (Milu Islam), and Sarah Walker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In his early life, Richard served his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. His bravery and commitment to excellence were in both his military and civilian life. After his honorable discharge, Richard embarked on a successful career as an insurance underwriter at Kemper and Hartford, where his analytical mind and attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Throughout his life, Richard dedicated himself to his community and his faith. He held various leadership positions, including treasurer, at Hamilton Christian Church and later at New Song Church, guiding others with his wisdom and compassion.

An avid golfer, Richard found serenity and joy on the greens. He enjoyed going to the golf course on early mornings to meet up with his league and golf groups. His passion for golf was only matched by his love for Cardinal Baseball and travel.

As we remember Richard, we celebrate a life well-lived -- a life filled with love, adventure, and a deep commitment to the values he held dearly. He will be missed by many, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

A visitation will be held at Community Christian Church, located at 623 Meramec Station Road, Manchester, MO 63021, on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at 10:00 am, with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 am.
