So sorry to hear of Rick's passing.  I met Rick as a neighbor in Driggs in 1998 just in time to celebrate his 55th birthday.  This is Rick contemplatively witnessing the sunrise after a long night of conversation and silly revelry for the occasion.

I will always remember my time on St John, US Virgin Islands with Rick.  St John continues to be my favorite tropical getaway to this day.  I will always be grateful to Rick for introducing me to this wonderful place.

I remember being a little girl (Marisha) going with my Grandmother Ms. James Olia Gines who not long ago passed away herself at age 90 yrs old in April 2023, going with her to clean Richards home, and how he would set up the TV for me to watch & entertain me, and ask me several questions about school as my grandmother cleaned his home, and ironed his clothes, as she did for many, many years, also for his parents when they were living. During other times when I didn't go and begin to get older, my grandmother side job cleaning Richards home, she would take my younger cousins (Shareka and Marlon) on other work trips to clean his home, Richard became a close family friend to not just my grandmother but her entire family. His generosity, respect, and love for my Grandmother was very noticeable. Cleaning for Richard as a side job my grandmother Gines truly enjoyed doing for Richard in her lifetime, as she was able to see him grow from a young boy into a full grown man. My grandmother would sometimes tell me stories of how she enjoyed and had really missed Richards parents who were also very nice people to my grandmother Gines. I remember him later having discussions with me as I became an Adult, and got married myself, he was always smiling with his trimmed beard, smiling even as we both started to get older in Life. I would like to send Prayers to Richards close friends, his god children, he will be truly missed, along with that smile.  You know our hearts Father God, you witness of grief of a dear beloved friend, only you can give us peace and comfort,  during death we call upon you,  you are the government of Life,  and your Son Jesus Christ is the source of eternal life, dry the tears, soothe the pain as we think of Richard and continue our daily lives. May Richard rest in peace,  Amen 🙌🏽🕊

I send my sincere sympathy to all that knew him, I worked for him currently cleaning his home and my grandmother took care of his mother, after her passing she took on same duties helping Rick, I then as a young child went along with grandma and help a little. We would always have good conversations on different topics. I last seen him that Monday December 21, 2024 he was good spirit everytime I seen him, will be missed. God Bless

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Rick’s passing.  He was a special friend who coached swimming with me at the Webster Groves, MO Swim Club. We’ve keep in touch over the years with many hour long phone conversations!  He will be missed.

Friends since 1973; BARFers (Breakfast And Running Friends) forever. Rick, along with Leon (at left) started our running group in 1980.  Rick was the glue that kept us Breakfasting long after the Running ended.  My last Rick Budde bear hug was on December 21, 2024 at our annual holiday BARF gathering. My sadness is deep.

Rick was a good friend who lived life on his terms, retiring at age 50 after seeing his parents stricken by disease before retirement. He vowed to have a different life, never smoking and embracing sports and comradery as his life pursuits. Because he disliked St Louis summers, he found joy in Diggs Idaho at "Casa Budde West" where he enjoyed nature, hiking and photography. He hosted friends at his western digs and participated in local activities there, returning to his boyhood home in University City after summers. Unfortunately, he was tragically struck while crossing a street after lunching with friends. Hope his last meal was memorable! RIP Rick!

I was very sorry to hear that Rick passed away.  Rick lived across the street from me on Corbitt from our younger years until my 20's.
We went  to Pershing School.   His Mom and him were both  very nice.  I did not realize he still had the house on Corbitt.

Is it possible that this is the same coach who coached the Florissant swim team in the Sixties?

We had the pleasure of befriending Rick in the WashU gym cheering on the Bears Volleyball team.  He shared with all of us hundreds of photos he took of the team.  After our daughter graduated, Rick and Rick S would make their annual trek to Driggs.  If they went the Nebraska route, they were always sure to meet us for dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  He would "analyze" the Nebraska volleyball team (as well as others) and our conversations were always fun and pleasant.  Rick last texted me during the Women's Division I Volleyball Championship simply stating "Outstanding set!"  The next day he was gone.  We'll miss our semi-annual dinners with our friend at Texas Roadhouse!  Rest in Peace, Rick.

Rick loved the outdoors and spent time in Driggs Idaho. He was an avid photographer and has taken beautiful pictures for others to enjoy. I met Rick thru Bob and Martha Scharff and enjoyed spending time with him in Longboat Key Fla. As we sat on the beach Rick would say-“Just another day in paradise.!”  All Honor to His Name. Rest in Peace Rick.

Deepest condolences from our dear next door neighbor and friend.  We moved beside Rick in 1982 and shared many stories with him. My name is Rena but my sister Betty and Jerry Shores still live next door. I've known Rick for 43 years.  He was a great person and always had a smile.  He and my sister and brother in law looked out for each other. I know that will miss him as much as I will.  From my family including my children we will miss you Rick but will always remember your smile.

A lot of us probably don’t have pictures of Rick, but rather pictures of us and our loved ones that we treasure that were taken by Rick. I got the pleasure of meeting Rick while cheering on the Bears volleyball team. Rick and I would talk before and after a number of games, especially the playoffs and early morning games when we would be some of the few non-parents there, and he would always make me laugh. My wife and I now get to show our children amazing photos and videos of their mom playing VB, a benefit enjoyed by many former Bears. Thanks for being such a great member of the Bears community, Budde.

. In our younger days we saw Rick all the time at or with the Scharff’s. He was a high school friend and we kept in touch through Photography.  I will miss him and  his expertise  in photoshooting and his conversation. R I P. Steve and Nancy Albert
