One of my favorite memories of our group from 1989. Mark Adelman front center, arranged this get together and passed away shortly thereafter. Mike was, of course, cracking jokes the whole night.

That was a quick year. I missed the occasional chats we had, bad jokes he told and discussions on what was wrong with his scooter. His name and memories are brought up when Stan, Rick and I talk.  I hope the year has gone peacefully for Mikes dad, brother and sister.

My deepest sympathy to the Siegel family. Mike was a good friend who I will greatly miss. While I never had the opportunity to meet any of you I feel as if I know you through Mike's many stories. He expressed a deep love for his family, especially his two daughters.  May he rest in peace.

My name is Jon Bomze and on behalf of myself and my mother Myra, I want to extend my condolences to Mike's father Howard, his sister Nancy, his younger brother David, and his ex-wife and his daughters.   Our two families were close and grew up together often attending joint Thanksgiving and Passover celebrations.  Even though David was my friend, I have very fond memories of Mike as the 'cool' older brother.  He will be sorely missed.


Mike was the most lovable adorable little boy filled with energy, joy, warmth and enthusiasm.  I remember going to see The King and I with Nancy, David and my mother.  Mike sat on the edge of his seat for the entire time.  He was awestruck.  We sang many of the songs on the ride home.  He had a wonderful voice.  I loved him very much and will miss him forever.  rozzie

I'm remembering when we came to St. Louis for Alison's wedding.  Michael took the time to take my son Dylan to the zoo. I can still see them walking hand in hand, looking at the animals. Michael was such a sweet, loving, and gentle soul. 💕 

Mike was a wonderful friend and will be missed.  He always had a positive attitude and cared about everyone with compassion and gave all he could of himself.  We go back over 50 years while in college when I met him and Margie.

This memory is on behalf of my brother, Stanley Tolpen.  

Mike was one of my closest friends for many, many years. In fact, I spoke with him a few days before he passed and he was, at that time, very upbeat.  We had so many fond memories, especially with Howard, Rick, Mark Adelman, and others in our little “gang.”  

I will miss him dearly, and want to express my sincere condolences to his family.

We were a typical group of teenagers in the late 60s and 70s forming strong bonds of friendship. Mike had more energy and chutzpah than most of us, often taking the lead in juvenile acts of mischief, of which the statute of limitations has long expired.  Unfortunately, our paths separated for decades. We resumed our friendship over the past several years. We spoke often on the phone and got together regularly for breakfast or lunch.  Despite his health challenges, he was almost always in a good mood. As soon as I arrived at his apartment, I was greeted with a handshake, a smile and a “How the hell are you!” He always came armed with a corny joke to tell our server before ordering.  A few years back, we went to Vegas to visit our friends Stan and Rick. As ‘alter kakers’ at this point, there wasn’t much in the way of mischief, but the three of us had an extraordinary and memorable reunion.  Mike and I shared a love of motorcycles and exchanged perilous stories of riding. It was difficult to witness his decline and painful to be unable to alter its course. I will miss Mike and the corny jokes.   Howard and Sharon Levinson

I met Mike when I joined ZBT in Columbia, Missouri and we became fast friends.  He maintained his happy and positive attitude through challenges in his life that would be difficult for most.   Always the optimist, Mike never met a stranger and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Mike was a good friend who held a positive note during some depressing times.  With his passing died many of my memories.  He reminded me recently of how we met at parkway when he moved there and we became friends and science partners in Kelly’s class.  He remembered every students name and every teacher.  Later we became house painters today.  I fell 2 stories when my partner became distracted from holding the ladder.  The most memorable incident was when we were painting some white trim on a black asphalt roof…spilled the whole gallon , tried to wash it off and settled for painting the roof black… white paint puddles could be seen in the backyard s of homes down the block.. not sure if we got paid for that one.  Lois and I will miss Mike .. our weekly phone calls … his shared love of Elvis with Lois and his many stories
