He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and a dear and devoted friend to so many. He treasured the times spent with family and friends. His last days were spent at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Lillian “Lynn”, and family at his side until he peacefully fell asleep. Moments after saying their goodbyes, Our Lord Jesus safely carried him home.
On September 15, 1945, Mike was born to Kenneth and Idamae Ramsey, in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended schools in the Brentwood School District through graduation. Mike continued his education at Southeast Missouri State College (SEMO) pursuing an Industrial Engineering degree. The Vietnam War was going strong and Mike felt a duty to serve, he left school and joined the Army on January 31, 1967. Following a year’s tour in Vietnam he returned to the US as a Sp5 ending his tour on December 17, 1968. Mike went back to SEMO to complete his Industrial Engineering degree. About a year before his graduation, he met the love of his life, Lillian “Lynn” Wills. He received his bachelor’s degree in May 1971 and within months, on August 28th,1971, he married his soul mate, Lynn. Mike’s joy and blessings abounded, becoming a father of two sons, Michael Junior and Chad. The title Mike cherished the most, which came later in life, was “The Bestest Pop-Pop in the World”, fondly given him by Chad’s two children, Chad Junior, and Caiya.
Mike loved life and did his best to squeeze as much enjoyment out of it as possible. He was passionate about travel, the outdoors, and exploring the world. Sharing his zest for life with those he loved was his favorite pastime, whether it was spending time with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks, packing up the family for a cross-country road trip, cruising in his 1965 Corvette, or riding his Harley Davidson to meet up with friends wherever the road beckoned. He was an avid mechanical enthusiast enjoying a long career in the engineering field culminating with his dream job at Boeing. His dedication and discipline led to another one of his great accomplishments, earning a 4th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. This ultimately resulted in his running the Tae Kwon Do School, Moo Do Kwan West, at the YMCA in Chesterfield, MO, for several years, with Lynn.
