Mike was an incredible man who meant so much to many. He embodied the definition of a family man—loyal, devoted, and honorable. Mike was a loving husband, proud father, fun granddad, trustworthy friend, great boss, loyal sibling, caring son, nephew, uncle and even a helpful stranger to those he met in passing.
Always giving 100% to everything, Mike excelled, whether working as a master electrician, playing with his grandkids, or building a home with his wife. He either gave his all or didn't do it; shortcuts were never his style. Mike had a thirst for knowledge and always kept busy with projects. If his wife jokingly commented on an outlet not being close enough, you can bet there would be a new outlet installed. He was always there when anyone needed him, whether in person or through phone calls, patiently and happily guiding them through any process, no matter how long it took. Thorough and meticulous, Mike read the manuals everyone else would throw away word for word. A true "Mr. Fix-it," he did not care how long it took to do things right for those he loved. Committed to his community, people knew they could always turn to him for help, and he welcomed multiple people into his home without hesitation when they needed assistance.
Mike started his day at 4 a.m. to run, get to work, get home to be there for his wife and family to the fullest extent. He and his wife had a beautiful routine and loved their life together. Passionate about being outdoors, he greatly loved camping. Mike took numerous camping trips with his family, went on annual fishing trips with the boys, and had adventure-packed trips with his wife. The day he passed, he was preparing to leave for a camping trip with his wife, family and friends to their favorite place, Grand Haven, Michigan. He was excited and looking forward to camp in the #1 spot with a tree looking out at the water and sunsets!
Mike was a proud veteran after serving in the Air Force. He always hung a flag outside his home and on his campers. As tough as he could be, he was also soft. He was never afraid to express his love and show deep affection through kind and gentle gestures, making it abundantly clear daily. He had a lovely sense of humor and a loud, infectious laugh that will be deeply missed by all who loved him. His energy remained youthful, playful, and fun, creating many cherished memories.
Mike was the heartbeat of a big family and will be missed dearly.
