Melvin Douglas Sherman

Adoring Father of Mark (Deanna) Sherman and Stuart Sherman (Jenn Schwentker). Loving Zeda to Taylor, Carly & Jacob, and Papa to Spencer and Parker. Dear Son of the late Daniel & Ethel Sherman. Dear Brother of Alan, Billy, Barry Sherman & the late Florene Myers. Former husband of Sandra Sherman. Very special friend of Beverly Rolnick. Beloved Uncle, Cousin & Brother-in-law.

Mel was better known as the “King of Knishes”. Back in 1963 he started the family deli business, Sherman Brothers with his brother Alan, and wife Sandy. Mel worked behind the scenes creating all the delicious recipes behind the legacy of Sherman Brothers, The Pastrami Joynt, along with many other deli’s over the years. His last deli was Shermies, in Chesterfield that he owned with his sons Mark & Stuart.

Mel was an extremely funny, generous, and kind -hearted man. He will be dearly missed forever.

Graveside services will take place Sunday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 9125 Ladue Rd 63124, with a shiva from 4-7pm at 155 Log Hill, Ballwin MO 63011
