Mark J. Davis was called to heaven on Tuesday February 7, 2023 at the age of 68. He was born February 25, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Marcella Davis (nee Litzau); beloved husband of Linda J. Davis (nee Schuessel); loving father of Scott (Tracie) Davis, Anthony (Dina) Davis and Kevin (Aimee) Davis; stepfather of the late Shannon Hawkins; cherished grandfather of Allie, Abbie, Anna, Ava, Jacob, Grace, Maggie, Mylie and bonus grandchildren John "JB", Sammy, Tyler, Savannah, Salena and Kaden; dear brother of David Davis, James Davis and the late Diana Mueller; dear brother-in-law of Charles M. Schuessel, great uncle of Jennifer Vagedes; beloved uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Mark held a special place in his heart for his lifelong friends, Tom Macker, Tom Leassner, Ken Woods, Joe Bilger, Leonard Thoma, Steve Haessig and the late Dave Blecha.
Mark was a proud South St. Louis City resident all his life. He attended St. John the Baptist High School and graduated in the class of 1972. During the warmer months, he enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle where he felt free from all his ailments. He was an avid local sports fan where he enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. Mark was a conservationist at heart and loved the outdoors. He loved his fishing trips with his buddies especially those to Canada and the annual Missouri deer hunt. He was a very proud owner of hunting land in the Ozark area. Up until the early 2000’s, you could find Mark at one of the local softball diamonds during the week where he enjoyed a long career as an Amateur Softball Association umpire. One of Mark’s greatest achievements was his 39 year career at McMahon Ford where he became the parts warehouse manager and was able to retire at the young age of 58.
His greatest passion was spending time with his wife Linda, their dog Sophie and boasting about his three sons Scott, Tony and Kevin along with his many grandchildren.
A special thank you to Dr. Ravi P. Nayak and staff who cared for Mark for 18 years and the late Mr. Bill Schicker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mark’s name may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America Heartland Chapter https://www.lupus.org/heartland/make-a-donation-0 and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association https://phassociation.org/donate/.
