She was preceded in death by her two sons, James and Thomas Faulkner Sr., grandson Thomas Faulkner Jr., great granddaughter Kyra Rose Benoit, her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her eldest granddaughter, Renae (Jason) Benoit and 3 great grandchildren (Kaitlin, Alyssa and Justin) of Minneola, FL. She was also a dear Aunt and Cousin to many.
Marie was a very devout Catholic and enjoyed attending St. Andrew Catholic Church. She always looked forward to the monthly Fifty Plus Club meetings at church and supporting church events. She continued her daily prayers while in the nursing home. Pretty much every time someone called she would recite the rosary. It was always very important for her to share her faith.
Thank you to the dedicated staff of the Woodlands of Arnold nursing home and the amazing Hospice team that cared for Marie. One thing people may not know is that she was on Hospice and had Covid at the beginning of the pandemic. She overcame both. She was a very strong woman who survived covid and “graduated” from Hospice (which rarely ever happens). But she did it! Even though she wasn’t on Hospice, the team still checked in on her every time they were at the nursing home and would pray with her. About a month ago, she started declining and went back on Hospice and was blessed to have the same wonderful team. Actually, they were more like family to her. I know this made her happy to have them there with her at the end.
To me, she was always my Grandma Faulkner until my children were born. Then she became fondly known as Grams. She loved taking trips to Florida to visit her great grandchildren and telling them stories from her childhood.
We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. May she be at peace now and reunited with all her loved ones in Heaven.
She will be laid to rest next to her mother at Mount Hope Cemetery in St. Louis, MO in the Lemay area.
