

Margaret Helen Atzert on the morning of Thursday, December 28th, 2023, Margaret H. Atzert, devoted wife of the late Kenneth (Ken) Atzert, loving mother, grandma, and great grandma, at the age of 78, passed away circled in love by her entire family legacy.
Margaret (Margie) was born February 8th,1945 to John and Laurine (nee Roth) Mayer. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1963 where she made friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. On May 6th, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart and soulmate Ken. Together, in an open house of faith and love, they began a legacy of raising “Heaven’s Seven” (7) children.
During her life, Margie was a devoted housewife and creator of extraordinary memories for her children. Her love and care extended to her children’s friends and families, the members of Immaculate Conception Church and the surrounding community. She worked as a house cleaner, associate at General American and secretary at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial, MO. Margie knew no stranger. She provided others with kindness, support, compassion, and a sense of joy. Her genuine spirit shined when she danced with her husband and children, laughed too loudly at jokes she often did not understand, volunteered at PSR and various church or school events, sang a little off key, embraced you with her gentle hug and soft hands, and prayed for those who needed help in a time of need.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Atzert, her father, John, and her mother, Laurine. She is survived by her seven (7) children; Debbie (Mark) Schanda, Ed (Michelle) Atzert, Suesy (Eric) Seel, Laurie (Don) Lewis, Mindy (Kevin) Thomas, Johnny (Leah) Atzert, and Mike (Amy) Atzert, twenty-one (21) grandchildren, and seven (7) great grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, from 4-8 PM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., Lemay, MO 63125. On Friday, January 5th, 2024, there will be a 9 AM gathering followed by a procession to the church. A Mass service will be held at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 2300 Church Road, Arnold, MO, with the burial service to follow in the church’s cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margie’s honor with all the funds being given to a local charity in need. Checks can be written and sent to Laurie Lewis 11133 State Route 21, Hillsboro, MO 63050. Please include Margie’s name in the memo.
