I really wish I had known that she had passed away. The last time I visited her she asked the residence to contact me if she passed away so that I would know but nobody called. I felt horrible that the family might think I didn't care because I didn't show up for the funeral. I just didn't know. Lorraine was amazing and like my grandmother. I lived with her for 4 years while I went to graduate school and she made it possible for it to be affordable for me. We cooked together, she was at all my performances and my graduation. I still have all the beautiful  vests (for performances) that she made for me over the years that I lived with her as well as all the other clothes she made. I refuse to get rid of them because I've gained weight. I will wear them again. I really hoped she would make it to 100 and every year we made a little joke about how long she had left to go like a countdown till 100.  I'll always remember when she came to stay with me for a month in California and all the sewing she did.  She wanted projects to do around the house so she wasn't bored when I was teaching. She enjoyed meeting the ladies at my new church and they enjoyed her visit. I miss all the laughs and the fun times we had like her persuading me to grow mint (and then saying what should we do with all of it)  so I could make mint juleps for her, she didn't want it to be her idea to drink bourbon LOL. Lorraine did a lot for everybody and never asked anything in return. I'm glad she is in God's presence.

Well today Lorraine would have been 100 years old. I had no idea she had passed away. I lived with Lorraine in her basement at 1203 Sunset when I was in graduate school and teaching in St. Louis.  She was like a grandmother to me. She was constantly sewing fancy vests for me to wear at my school performances and she was in the front row for my graduate recital at the Cathedral downtown. We had a lot of fun when I lived with her and I remember her helping me to plant mint in the backyard so I could make mint juleps on Derby weekend. She came to visit me for a month when I moved to California and did a lot of sewing for me there. She always enjoyed my cooking and let me have dinner parties for friends from church. When she sold her home she gave me the dining room set, the china and all the silver because she said I'd made far more use out of it than she ever did. I'm glad she's with the Savior enjoying his company.  

I'm so sorry to hear that Lorraine has passed. She was one of my mom's (Launa's) best friends. I remember the day she married Mr. Ferguson because my dad performed the ceremony in our living room, in front of our fireplace! They were such a sweet couple! May God bless and comfort her family who loved and cared for her so much over the years!

How we thank God for our sister, Lorraine!  Jean's family has been so blessed by her life-long friendship!  We pray for God's peace and comfort for all her precious family. 

Lorraine was in my bible study class at Friendship Village. She came every week. Even when she seemed tired she would always show up. One day we played Bible Trivia and Lorraine won. She knew God’s word! She was always so sweet. The last time I talked to her was in August when I zoomed with her. She was so happy to connect with me again. I will really miss her but I know that she is with her Savior now and I will see her again someday. Thank you Lorraine. You were such a blessing to me.
