He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 70 years, Despina Leo Pashos (nee Gionis) in October 2024, and his brother Costa Pashos.
Leo was the loving and inspirational father to his children, Chris (Hope) Pashos, the late Demetrius (Susan) Pashos, and Constantine (Faye) Pashos. He was the proud and doting Pappou to Jessica, Luke (Courtney), Lee (fiancé Lisa), and Caroline, and adored Pro-Pappou to Chris Leo and Theo James Pashos.
Leo served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War and continued to serve in the Naval Reserve for many years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. An avid athlete, Leo was a dedicated member of the St. Louis Track Club, participating in 15 marathons, countless triathlons, and other races, including multiple Boston Marathons. He also ran in the “Classical Marathon”, which began in Marathon, Greece, and ended at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. His love for fitness was a lifelong passion which he shared with his wife, family and friends.
A man of strong faith, Leo met Despina in the choir at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Charleston, SC, where Leo was stationed during his time in the Navy. Their bond was one of shared love, respect and devotion. Together, they volunteered as ushers at the Fox Theater and were active members of the community. Leo’s work life included a long career at Anheuser-Busch. Following retirement from A-B, Leo worked as a lifeguard and a swim instructor at Forest Park Community College.
