Lauren Elizabeth McWilliams was born July 19, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Juanita Harris Street and the late Robert Nathaniel Street. On Monday, June 11, 2018, Lauren began her new life with our Heavenly Father in eternal, unconditional love.
In 1956, Lauren's parents blessed her with the sister she always wanted, Robyn Anita Street, and they remained best friends all their lives.
She attended elementary school at Blessed Sacrament followed by Xavier High School, both in St. Louis. She graduated with honors from Fontbonne College in 1969 with a Bachelors of Arts in French and History.
Shortly after graduation, she met James McWilliams, Jr. and shortly thereafter they were united in holy matrimony. To this union was born Laurie Frances McWilliams. During her 25 years of marriage, Lauren moved to various cities including Springfield, Illinois, Dallas, Texas, and Stamford, Connecticut.
Throughout her life she loved music and was a gifted piano player, playing the organ for church services at Blessed Sacrament and St. Patrick Catholic Churches at the very early age of 10 years.
She was very active in her beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated, and in 1988 was a charter member who formed the graduate chapter, Omicron Upsilon Omega, in Stamford, Connecticut.
She loved traveling, having traveled to France and Italy as a college student, and during her marriage travelled to Europe and Caribbean islands on multiple occasions.
Lauren moved back to St. Louis in 1995, and later suffered a major stroke. However, against all odds, she survived 23 years under the amazing care of her mother, Juanita. Lauren’s new life was focused on enjoying time with her family and friends.
Lauren is pre-deceased by her father, Robert Nathaniel Street, her grandmother, Laura Elizabeth Harris, her sister, Robyn Anita Street, and her uncles Dewitt Talmadge Harris and Lucas Harris.
Lauren’s memory lives on with her beloved mother, Juanita Harris Street, her cherished daughter, Laurie Frances McWilliams, MD (Jeffrey Aaron Dunnigan), her two grandsons, Aaron William Dunnigan and Ethan Robert Dunnigan, many cousins and a host of friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018, 9:30am, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 106 North Meramec Avenue, Clayton Missouri 63105. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will follow.
