John L. Davis, age 83, of St. Louis, entered eternal rest on January 3, 2016. He is the beloved husband of Betty Davis, nee Komrska, for 64 wonderful years; dear father of John (Teree) Davis, Barbara (Buddy) Hawkins, and Lucy Andrews; brother of Mildred Ballard, father-in-law of Mike Gambino and Terri Davis; grandfather of 10, great-grandfather of 14 . Preceded in death by a daughter Robin Gambino and son Joseph Davis. He also leaves to mourn his passing his much loved grey wolf-dog Dakota
Mr. Davis led a full, work-hard play-hard life. He was a life-long SCUBA diver, loved to swim and water ski. His loftier exploits included sky diving and a turn at flying a small airplane. Mr. Davis drew many friends with his magnetic personality and his family said he was quick to help out anybody he could in any way he could. For many years he worked as a tree-trimmer and had many residential and commercial customers. He will be laid to rest among some of the many trees he groomed in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Davis summed up his feelings a week before his passing when he told his family, "I've had a wonderful life."
Mr. Davis' wonderful life and passing will be celebrated and mourned during a funeral service, 11:30 am Thursday, January 7, 2015, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, Mo. 63125. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 3-9 pm Wednesday, January 6. Memorial donations are suggested to the Humane Society or de Greef Hospice House.
