How sorry we were to learn of the loss of Harold, a fondly remembered and truly dear friend from our past.  Thank you, Harold, for teaching my baby sister, Claire (nee Derby) Bynum and I, as little children, our first lessons about wildlife and nature and how to respect and care for them, like all the wonderful raccoons and foxes who became our friends and whom we named, when we were little girls visiting Bee Tree County Park with our parents.  How many children have the special memories of visiting Annie, who never ceased to be a kid at heart, and Harold when they resided in the beautiful Eugene Nims mansion at Bee Tree, while their ranch home was under construction there.  What a fabulous, King-of-the-Forest real Christmas tree they had there and the wonderful fires in the huge stone hearth!  Annie had us convinced that she could charm and scare away the monsters that we kids were sure lurked in the hidden stone recesses of the mansion, taking us hand-in-hand and warding off the "Booger Bears", as she called them with a repetitive mantra and stomping her feet rhythmically and with much authority as we went up and down the spiral stone staircases!  And Harold gave my sister Claire, cousins Kim and Chris (nee Messmer) and me our very first horseback riding lessons on sweet Babe, his Park Ranger horse.  Harold had a very mischievous sense of humor, too, and would often get into  "trouble" with my Mom because he would insist on feeding my baby sister the gooiest chocolate desserts available, turning her little white and pastel sundresses into complete messes!   We all know how very much Harold missed Annie and that is why our goodbyes in prayer are bittersweet.  We know that Annie, with all of her fun and exuberance, flew to embrace Harold as she welcomed him Home, and that Harold is now at peace and rest with his Maker and with Annie in heaven.  I pray for the repose of the souls of both Harold and Annie Borders, two unforgettable, unique and truly special people who blessed so many with their friendship.  Good-bye is really a contraction of the words "God Be with Ye" according to English scholars and that is the essence of the Good-bye I send to you Harold, until we all meet again. Harold and Ann were like a brother and sister to me.  They were always there to share laughs and listen to concerns.  My family and I spent many good times out at Bee Tree Park over the years.  The park is just not the same without them being there.  Today, I reflect on memories such as these: Many hours spent helping Harold refinish furniture; Vicky and Claire loved our visits and their special birthday parties at Bee Tree.  Picnics were so much fun, especially when Harold allowed us go horseback riding.  Also, all the many wonderful gatherings at the Borders' home.  I just know that Harold has a huge smile on his face, because he is once again with his beloved Annie.  Thanks for the memories....you will be in my heart forever.  Rest well my wonderful friends. Our family met Harold & Ann at Bee Tree park in 1969 when I was only 1.  I immediately took to Harold and called him my "Ha-Hoo" for years.  I loved him like a Grandpa.   He and Ann were such a warm, wonderful and fun couple.  I will always cherish those memories.  Rest in peace my dear friend.   Give Ann a big hug from me. Love, Claire Derby-Bynum

Harold & Ann were dear friends to our family.  I was married at Bee Tree, and Harold gave me away.  Such a wonderful, warm couple.  I know he missed his Annie very much, so it makes me happy that they are together again.  Renee & David Zittel

Met Harold and Ann when they moved next door here in Colorado. We have been friends ever since. Was there visiting Ann in the hospital when she passed. Harold was trying to come visit us this year. So sorry he passed we will miss him very much. Would have liked to be there but didn't find out until yesterday afternoon. God bless you Harold. Love Jim and Lana Ploger

Harold was such a good guy. He was one of the group that came into Carmody's every Saturday for lunch and companionship and laughter. For 10 years, Harold was in charge of the beer booth at Carmody's annual fund raiser. He was serious about this responsibility and helped to raise a lot of money for many good causes. 
I will miss him.

My sincere condolences to the Border's Family.  Harold was a great man. You just could not help but like him.  He was always friendly with a smile on his face. Alway's ready to lend a hand and many good conversations with over the years.  He will be missed.

I remember having such good times when Uncle Harold and Aunt Ann would have parties years ago. They were always friendly and welcoming to everyone. He will be missed by friends and family

Sorry to hear of Harold's passing.  He and Ann were great friends to my parents, Emmett and Agnes Frisbee.

I had the pleasure of knowing Harold Borders for a number of years while with St. Louis County Parks.  After that, I would commonly see him and stop to talk while he was living on Kehrs Mill Road; of which I have fond memories.  Please accept my sympathies and prayers.  Jim Gerken
