Gerald Evan Pedersen of Kirkwood, MO passed away 2/7/19 from Lymphona at the age of 78. Born on March 18th, 1940 in Wendell Idaho. Raised in Stockton California until a teenager, then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. A life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gary was a student at Brigham Young University and a member of the men’s volleyball team. He served in the LDS mission field in Argentina and remained active his entire life in the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Bishop of the Golden Ward in Golden CO during the 1970s.
He met and married Sharon Leslie Smith in the LDS Salt Lake Temple in 1967. His career in the pharmaceutical industry took their family to Idaho, Colorado and Missouri where he retired with Bayer Pharmaceuticals after a lengthy career in sales management and government lobbying at both the state and federal level.
He enjoyed flying his model airplanes and volunteering at the St. Louis Arch sharing stories of westward expansion.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Wanda Pedersen, wife Sharon Leslie Smith Pedersen, and his brother Robert Pedersen. Survived by his brother Jim Pedersen, Sister Diana Dyer, current wife Linda Dudley Pedersen, and his legacy of four children, Gerald Evan Pedersen Jr, Mary Elizabeth Pedersen Kampschroeder, Christian Smith Pedersen, Jonathan Daniel Pedersen and ten grandchildren: Logan, Claire, Caroline, Jilane, Andrew, Rebecca, Arielle, Owen, Skylar, and Elaina.
Open house Friday February 22nd from 7-9pm at the Fenton Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1175 Piedras Parkway, Fenton MO 63026.
Memorial Saturday February 23rd at 1:00 at the Butler Hill Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4511 Butler Hill Road, St. Louis MO 63128. Pot Luck luncheon to follow.
