Gaza Bodnar, age 100, of Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Gaza was born September 9, 1921 in Czechoslovakia to Anton and Juliana Bodnar. They have preceded him in death, as have his wife Juanita, and his sister Ethel. He is survived by: Son Stephen Bodnar (Linda); Step-son John Hemphill (Tonya); Step-daughters: Phyllis Hemphill, Judy Hardt, Isabella Klein; Step-Grandchildren: Lisa Lay, Alexandra Hemphill, Pierce Hemphill, Tama Bystrom, Kenton Klein, Reid Klein; Step-Great Grandchildren: Thomas Kelly, Tyler Lay, Bodie Lay, Utah Lay, Caiden Klein, Kemper Klein, Sydney Bystrom, Jack Bystrom, Ryan Bystrom; Step-Great Great Grandchildren: Patrick Kelly, and William Kelly.
Gaza proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, being part of the Okinawa Amphibious Force. He was a former member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved square dancing, where he met Juanita. He enjoyed fishing and sports - especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues. He also enjoyed watching football and world travelling with his square dance club.
