Born to L.E. & Inez Short Kollman in Mexia in 1923, Eloise and her family moved to Hondo one year later. As an adult, Eloise moved to San Antonio where she raised her family, had a career & lived independently until the age of 93. Eloise was choir director and soloist at Pilgrim Congregational Church for many years. She later worked as a cruise travel agent, allowing her to fulfill her lifelong dream of seeing the Seven Wonders of the World. Much of her retirement years were spent on her beloved beaches of Mexico. Eloise will be remembered for her love of Texas Aggie & Dallas Cowboy football, as well as her beautiful smile & boisterous laughter.
Survivors include her daughters: Denise Sypesteyn of San Antonio & Robin Rogers (Eric) of St. Louis; grandchildren Lisa VanDyke Craighead, Pieter Sypesteym (Susan), Carrie Castaing (Peter), Carolyn Day (Colin), Jennifer Rogers & Clayton Rogers; 12 great & great-great-grandchildren. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary VanDyke and grandson Shane VanDyke.
