Dorothy McDonnell Cooke

Cherished daughter of the late Bernard P. and Dorthy Dowd McDonnell; dear mother of Brian J. (Christine) Cooke, Dorothy (Ralph) Silverman, Lewis Cooke and Ana (Kobe) Taher; dear grandmother of Brian, Nora, Catherine, Cipriano Jr., Ella, Grace and Lukas; dear sister of Mary Claire, Bernard, and Myles McDonnell; our dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Dottie was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart “City House”, St. John’s School of Nursing, and St. Louis University where she earned a Ph.D. She served honorably during the Vietnam War earning a Bronze Star and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel USAR. For 32 years she taught at St. Louis University as a Professor of Nursing.

Services: Funeral from Kriegshauser West, 9450 Olive Blvd., on Thursday, September 29, 9:30 am to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 106 N. Meremac Ave., Clayton for a 10:00 am Mass.

Interment Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday.
