Dennis was born September 8, 1940, in Aurora, IL, to the late Russell and Naomi (French) Freyling.
Dennis was the loving husband of 56 years to Carol (Hendricker) Freyling and devoted father of 3 children, Dan (Denice) Freyling, the late Dale Freyling, and Denys (Doug) Schaefer; cherished grandfather of six grandchildren, Nicole Freyling (Fiancé Jake Harke), Nathan Freyling, Abbey Freyling, Aaron Freyling, Mia Schaefer, and Hannah Schaefer; and dear brother to the late David (Jeannine) Freyling and the late Diana Vargo.
Dennis worked for Ritenour School District for many years as both a teacher and a coach. He enjoyed backpacking, fishing, was an avid sports fan, and had a special talent for telling really bad “dad” jokes. Dennis loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always there to offer support and cheer them on at any event, something he always did for his own children as well. Dennis was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was a devoted member of Chesterfield Presbyterian Church and was a member of the men’s bible study group. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Pony Bird, a home that focuses on enriching the lives of people with disabilities. Their address is #1 Pony Bird Lane, Mapaville, MO 63065, or you can donate online at ponybird.org.
