Clara passed away surrounded by family at home on August 28, 2023 at the age of 104.
Beloved wife of the late Vernon C. Johnson and Loving Mother to the late Mary C. Lakins. Cherished GG of Verna (Charles) Curtis, Lydia (John) Goines, Laura Fletcher and Marie (Randy) Delyria. Great Grandma GG to Jacob, Jeffrey, Joseph, Jeremy, Jonathan, Wyatt, Whitney, Briana, Aaron, Nicholas, Lester, James, Christina and Erik and Great Great Grandma GG to 13. Most special Aunt of Ronnie Pigg and his daughter, Tina.
Clara, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 272, Granite City, IL, was such an incredibly joyful and positive person to have around. Her family was honored to be able to care for her at home. Until recently, she was still doing the dishes, piddling around the house and enjoying peanut brittle and a piece of chocolate every night. Her family will miss her easy smile, positive attitude and witty comebacks.
Visitation Service for Clara will be held 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125. Private interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery next to Vernon.
