If there's anyone who would like to hear about the last days of Charles Chuck while in Hollywood I like to share with you my two week experience with him and the other days that I saw him in Hollywood in the month of October 2023 right before his passing away ,
I have many fond memories and quality time events that we shared during 2 weeks of living together in Hollywood and I think it would be wonderful to anyone who cares and loves him to hear about the experiences and some adventures we had in October 2023 which would I guarantee make you feel better and give you warm thoughts of Charles Chuck,

I just met Charles Chuck AKA in Hollywood Just
 this past October and spent two weeks with him in his apartment we had quality  time,
 and I learned how mature considerate intelligent just to mention a few of his qualities he is,
He was always able to hold a conversation about almost anything which would be considered a genius,
In the two weeks that I knew him and a few times afterwards that I saw him in Hollywood I looked forward to developing our new friendship in addition to his best friend Robert who I also found to be very nice kind and mature,
I want to say to his family those who knew him the best including Robert his best friend I am without a shadow of a doubt convinced that Charles was a vital asset to the community of Hollywood his intelligence education knowledge and skills will be surely missed in Hollywood,
I can just imagine the TV productions we could have produced together,
I speak on behalf of Hollywood and the entertainment industry we missed a new Superstar who had the potential to entertain the world.

I meet chuck in the LGBTQ center in Hollywood CA photography class October 2023 and we 
Started a dialogue about making a TV company in Hollywood, we had dinner in the Dolby theater mall
And started a new friendship,
I lived with Charles for 14 days in his Hollywood apt,
Charles was kind considerate generous and fighting against life's negative features with a smile  ,
Let's cherish his life and whatever he has touched and worked on here on earth

Chuck and Robert in Las Vegas to see a Cher concert and gamble. Chuck won over $2,000 playing slot machines. I made him pay for all the meals with his winnings!

My heart goes out to my best friend Chuck. Where do I go from here? He will be beyond missed.

Chuck was very active in the LGBT community and supported all charitable events.

Finally found the words to say goodbye. Chuck, you were my first love and I feel extremely lucky to have shared six years together as a couple.  I am very happy our paths crossed in our youth, we planted many trees together in many states and countries and worked in many political campaigns, you were always fighting for a better world. We built welcoming homes in several cites that hosted many lonely activists and dreamers and together we provided them shelter from a hostile world, as well as warm meals. You always said that there were good people everywhere on Earth, only that in some places you had to look harder to find them, that will be one of the most important things I learned from you, among the many things you taught me. Chuck you were the center of my life and I once told you our love would last forever, even as our lives took separate paths we remained friends and I can still say that my love for you will last forever.

Chuck was so smart  and clever and fun to be with. I smile just thinking of him. I knew him in high school, but became reacquainted when he worked with me at the Smithsonian institution on tropical forest research and conservation. Chuck always brought a new and interesting perspective to his work. I lost touch with him after I left the Smithsonian, but would be reminded of him every time one of his accomplishments or insights would come up. 

He cared deeply for the earth, and occupied a very special place on it. He will be missed by me and many others.

My husband and I met Chuck when we were visiting my brother Robert.  Chuck’s kindness and gentle nature shone through in our short time in knowing him.  He was someone who stood out from others because of  his gracious demeanor. Our deepest condolences to his family.

“Chuckles” as we sometimes called him, sitting down in the middle of the road with his backpack on.

Chuck was the first boy I felt comfortable talking to. He and I were both part of the Wilderness Club and the outdoors was a point of connection for us. I am not surprised this theme carried out through his life. He was one of the most gentle, caring and kind persons I ever knew. His light has been snuffed out far too soon.

I'm so sad to hear about the passing of Chuck. I only knew him when he was in his early twenties but we lived together in a cooperative house and were close. He was very kind to my 2 year old son who called him "Truck" instead of "Chuck." Another beautiful memory I have of him is that I believe he was doing volunteer work in schools to educate students about gay people. I recall he told me that one student wanted to know what he found attractive in another man. I remember his answer was something like, "sometimes it is the person's arm." That took me by surprise and I thought it was an enlightening and sweet answer.
I will cherish the memory of this beautiful, kind and intelligent man.

I was lucky enough to meet the Meyer family through teaching both Jill and Chuck at Ladue High School.  Chuck loved the outdoors and never missed a chance for a bike or canoe trip.  He was brilliant but never boastful and he had the most delicious sense of humor.  All kinds of gentle paradoxes, contradictions, and irony delighted him.  I can still hear his chuckle, which was always kind.    Even in his early teens, he loved to travel and to learn about different cultures.  His spirit was gentle, expansive.  He was much loved, not only by his family, but by his entire community.  This is a such a sad loss.

I am so sorry to learn of Chuck’s passing.  I met him through his former partner Luis and they were both so welcoming and cared so much about numerous social change issues. 
 AIDS and LGBT activism brought us all together in community. His commitment to environmental issues was inspiring. I enjoyed our trips to New York City and spending time in Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut. I send my condolences to all his loved ones at this sad and difficult time.

I am so deeply saddened by this news. Chuck spent as much time at our house as I did at yours. I have nothing but fond memories of him always making me laugh. He is gone much to soon. May his memory be a blessing. 

My deepest condolences.

I am so saddened to learn of Chuck’s passing.   While we had not been in touch for some years, he was always in my heart.  I first met Chuck through my roommate, who was his childhood friend.  He was going to school in Stanford at the time but would visit us in Los Angeles a couple of times a year.  He and I became close almost immediately.  He was nice, gentle, intelligent, caring and helpful and had the courage to always be himself.  

It was through Chuck and his then partner Luis, that I ended up working at a non-profit that was the most rewarding job I’ve ever had.  Where I met so many people who are still in my life 34 years later.  I will always be grateful for that.   There are so many memories rushing in my head about us, some are funny.  Like the time we were going to meet for dinner before a Miriam Makeba concert.   First Chuck drove off with his wallet on the roof of his car and the tickets were in it.  Luckily he realized it and retrieved.   I had a flat tire on my way to the Korean restaurant where we were meeting before the concert and the menu was mostly in Korean, the waitress spoke hardly any English and spoke zero Korean.  We were laughing hysterically when the food arrived we were surprised to see we had ordered three different kinds of soup and nothing else!  We made it to the concert and had a blast.

 There are so many memories, camping in Mexico, going to Pride with my babies in a stroller, going to marches, so many dinners, so much life shared.  But what I will remember mostly about Chucky is his shy smile, his kind eyes, and his passion for always doing the right thing for people, for the planet.  

I would like to thank his family for raising a kind and gentle soul and a good human being.  Chuck was proud of all of you.   I am sorry for the loss of your son and brother and for us, the loss of a dear friend.

Chuck and I were best friends who lived around the corner from each other for our formative years from Kindergarten through 9th grade, before I moved away to Austin. I can’t believe that he is gone so early and young. I will describe one great Chuck memory. My girlfriend (now wife) and I visited Chuck in St. Louis. We thought we would spend four days there, but after the first day, Chuck suggested we go to NY and join the Pride parade instead. On the spur of the moment, we booked flights and spent a whirlwind weekend in the city, celebrating Gay pride and hanging out far from our home bases. Liz and I still talk about how fun that weekend was. Even in recent months, Chuck and I stayed in touch and he thoughtfully asked about our daughter’s illness and how things were going.

I love you, Chuck, and hope you will rest easy and that your family will be able to find some peace in the coming months and years.

I am so so sorry to lose one of my dearest friends.

We met at Stanford when Chuck was a sophomore and I was a senior. 

We lived at Synergy House and would talk until all hours of the night.  He left for Israel, and I soon graduated and moved to Berkeley.. Before he left, we promised each other we'd live together after he graduated. He came to live with me and my partner for almost a year after he returned to Stanford and graduated two or three years later.

He took me backpacking when my chronic back issues wouldn't let me carry more than my sleeping bag.

We went to concerts and movies and  shared endless dinners and hikes. We enjoyed being out, proud, and loud in the late 80s Bay Area together. 

He went to Brazil and I went to Japan. When I finally moved back to the US after 9/11, he came and visited me in San Francisco, and he visited me in San Francisco, San Diego, and Santa Rosa.

We went to each other's reunions together.

I will love you forever, Chuck.

Dimples and smiles: This is how I will always remember you, dear friend.

We are shaped by those we know and love when we are young. How grateful I am, dear Chuck, that you have helped give me my shape.

Junior prom. Chuck and I broke up sometime between planning to go and prom itself, but Chuck kept his commitment to take me, because he was a boy, and then a man, to whom words and promises mattered.

Our friend Chuck was one of the most intelligent, caring, principled, and inquisitive people I’ve ever known.  In junior high and high school he pressed relentlessly past the what to the why of things (all the things!) On this trip to our family farm (pictured),  we climbed ladders to peer inside grain bins;  we inspected combines. He wanted to know what made it all work! And for those of us lucky enough to have been in Chuck’s orbit, he wanted to know what made us work. In a world that is often too busy or self absorbed to lean in, Chuck leaned in. He asked questions. (So many questions!) Even more rare, he listened to our answers.  He noticed. He cared.  He remembered. What a gift to know and be seen and cared for by this extraordinary man, who I first knew and loved when he was still a boy.

Chuck i’m so sad to have heard of your passing. We would have so much fun when I’d visit LA years ago. You are too young to go….. may god bless your family

I will always remember Chuck's smile, warmth and curiosity as they are present in almost every memory I have of my teenage years. Sending love and sympathy to you all.
