Born on July 7, 1988, Chad grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois and later moved to St. Louis, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Kara. There, they built their life as a family together. He loved running, going to the beach, playing with his dogs, and never missed an Alabama game. He took great pride in his career at Nestle Purina, and found joy in renovating his dream home. He will always be remembered for his joyful spirit, his wide, warm smile, his work ethic, and his devotion to the people he loved.
But above all else, Chad loved his family. He is survived by his wife Kara Schaefer; daughter, Lena Elizabeth Schaefer; parents Tom and Ann Schaefer; sister Lauren Whittington (Travis); grandparents Betty and Jim Burns and Janiece and Richard Schaefer; Kara’s parents Vicki and Fred Sussman; Kara’s siblings Rabbi Deana Berezin (Jared) and Clayton Sussman (Elizabeth); his four nephews William and Walker Whittington and Robbie and Jack Berezin, and his dogs Aly and Remi.
Funeral service Friday, May 19 at 10 AM at BERGER MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 9430 Olive Boulevard, Olivette, MO 63132. Interment follows at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 650 White Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017. There is no visitation prior to the funeral service.
