Betty was the devoted wife of 53 years to Joseph M. Rausch, Jr.; loving mom of Michele Rausch and Denise (Edward) Ucinski; cherished grandmother of Kirk Ucinski; dear sister of Georgia Horne, Leo (Rosemary) Abeln, and David Abeln; loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and a dear friend to many. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elizabeth Abeln, brother-in-law Bill Horne and sisters-in-law Verna Abeln and Marcy Abeln, as well as her brother-in-law Fr. John Rausch, O.F.M.
Betty was born and raised in South St. Louis and attended Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic grade school and Saint John the Baptist High School. Through friends, she met and married her best friend, Joe. Betty loved to travel, and would go on trips with her aunt. She and Joe took their girls, and their nieces and nephews on many wonderful road trips. She was an avid sports fan for any team from Saint Louis. Betty was very proud of the home she created for her family. It was a welcoming space for all their friends and family.
Betty was proudest of her relationship with her grandson, Kirk. Their best time was spent in the kitchen as well as reading together and sharing Hershey's chocolate bars and a good laugh.
Although she was a stay-at-home mom, Betty was very empowering for her daughters to be who they wanted to be and follow their dreams. She was strong, loving, and considerate. She was like a second mom to many and she was always ready with a hug for anyone who walked through her door.
