Revered daughter of late Sylvester and late Agatha Hogan. Precious niece of late Edward and late Marie Houlihan. Dear friend to late Joseph Schaefer. Generous colleague, classmate, and compassionate friend, Ann treasured all those to whom she was close and deeply appreciated the kindness of her neighbors.
Ann was born in 1943 in St. Louis, MO. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows elementary school, Academy of the Sacred Heart (City House) high school, and Maryville College of the Sacred Heart. Ann went on to earn her Ph.D. in Education from Saint Louis University. A leader in her field, she dedicated her professional life to inspiring students, teaching and later working as a principal at the St. Louis Public Schools—among them Dewey International Studies Elementary School, a magnet school in St. Louis, MO—and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. In addition to her many professional and personal accomplishments, including being a recipient of the Villa Duchesne-City House Très Bien Award, which honors those who demonstrate in their lives the traditions and values of Sacred Heart education, Ann was an avid animal lover. She provided loving care and shelter to stray cats, her adored dogs—including, most recently, Mr. Higgins and Mr. Stan—and her beautiful parakeets, including, most recently, Rainbow and Sparkle. Her hobbies included reading, attending book club meetings, going to the theater, and attending lectures at local universities. Ann was thrilled to attend a Golden Circle luncheon at Maryville University with friends in October. Ann was devoted to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, cherishing her friendships at both parishes.
