On December 24, 2023, Judith Ann Csukly (Francis) died peacefully in Montreal after a brief illness. Her sudden passing is being mourned by her family and many close friends.
Judy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from the first Inhalation Therapy Program at the Victoria General Hospital with the class of 1966 and became an early expert in the field, teaching the discipline at Vanier College for over 30 yrs.
Throughout her life, Judy carried a deep and driving passion for art embedding herself in the Montreal arts community as a vibrant and compelling painter. Judy’s art often reflected the movement of life and was featured in several exhibits during her career.
Judy is fondly remembered as a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister and lifelong friend. Armed with a quick “east coast” wit, Judy reveled in sharing laughter with her friends and especially loved sharing her passion for painting with her grandchildren and her art community.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Kristina (Patrick Lebel d. 2022), and Emily (Charlie A’Court); and her three grandchildren, Olivia and William Lebel, Daniel A’Court, as well as her sister, Jane (Peter) Arsenault, David (Athol) Francis. Judy is predeceased by her husband, Tibor Csukly (d. 2016).
The family would like to thank the Centre de soins palliatifs Samuel de Champlain for their care and compassion. Details for a planned celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
