With profound sadness we announce the passing of ‘Johnny’ who peacefully and gracefully took his last breath on February 21, surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan (nee Curley) along with his adoring children Karen (Jim), John, Kim (Randy), Scott (Diane) and Sharon (Michael) who was loved and raised as his own. Cherished grandfather to Kyle, Ryan, Amanda, Jessica, Andrew, Kaitlyn, John, Ashley, Summer, Joshua and great-grandfather to Willow. He will be deeply missed by his brother George (Sue) and sisters Colleen, Susan and Sherlyn, as well as extended family Norman, Hilda, Diane, Bobby (Suzanne), Linda (Bob), many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
John was proud of his 38 year career at CNR, enjoyed square dancing, travelling and golfing, but not as much as the bonds and friendships he formed through these activities. Many wonderful friends and memories were made throughout his and his family’s lives heading up to Gratten Lake. Above all, he was an incredible family man who opened his home to all; a proud, modest and humble man dedicated foremost to his wife and pleasing her. He always wore a smile and loved to laugh; and many of his heartiest laughs were at himself. A huge thanks to staff at the Royal Victoria.
Visitation on Thursday, February 26 from 3 -5 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 307 Riverside, St. Lambert.
Service on Friday, February 27 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 496 Birch, St. Lambert at 11 am.
Donations in his honour may be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital or the Welcome Hall Mission.
