Frances Corish Bédard died peacefully in St. Lambert on January 5, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones. Predeceased by her dear parents, Joseph and Christina Corish and brothers Joseph and John, and by her husband Gaston Bédard, she is survived by her children she loved so well, Denis (Maryse Roux), Charles (Csilla Csank) and Marie, her beloved grandchildren Maryline (William Morrissy), Evelyne (Alexander Willis) and Marika, by her dear sisters Anna, Mary (Gerald Mulhall) and Christina (the late Alphonse Sokolowski) and sisters-in-law Connie Corish and Yvette Bédard, and nieces and nephews.
Born in Windsor, Ontario in 1926, she then lived in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, St. Lambert, Sept-Îles, Montreal, North Hatley, Sherbrooke and finally St. Lambert once again for her last years.
Frances was a patient and keen observer and lover of nature and of people, a lifelong student of music, books, art and movies who intensely communicated these passions to her family and friends, inspired by the teaching sisters she so greatly admired. She was a generous, loving, thoughtful person who was well appreciated wherever she went, including during her very happy years in Bouctouche, St. Lambert, Sept-Îles and North Hatley.
She was an avid reader of history and philosophy, and analyst of politics, who enjoyed lively discussions with family and friends over the wonderful meals she prepared, and she had a song for every occasion in life drawn from artists old and new, popular and classical, that she treasured. She loved animals, who naturally flocked to her, and cared deeply about and worked for animal welfare. She loved gardens and created great beauty in her own gardens and life.
The visitation will be from 7-9 pm on January 10 at Collins, Clarke, MacGillivray, White, 307 promenade Riverside, St. Lambert, and the family will receive condolences starting at 9 am on January 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 844 avenue Notre-Dame, St. Lambert before the funeral mass at 10 am, with a reception to follow immediately after at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Grey Nuns of Montreal, https://sgm.qc.ca/en/ or the Frontier Animal Society, http://www.safas.ca/
The family wishes to extend its warmest and most sincere thanks to the wonderful persons who cared for Frances, in particular in her final years at CHSLD Valeo, including Julia Day-Gibson for her heartfelt friendship and remarkable work, Sara Gervais for her endless kindness and devotion, and Marie Christine Lapointe for her loving care along with Romeo, who was Frances’ best dachshund friend after a lifetime of very dear cat and bird friends.
