William Henry Custer

William Henry Custer, age 90, a resident of Sterling Height, died on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Clinton Township. He was born on November 5, 1925 in Detroit. He was employed by National Cash Register (NCR) for 47 ½ years in Detroit, Los Angeles and Phoenix. He was a deputy for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department and a police officer for Chesterfield Township. Mr. Custer was a Navy veteran of WWII, a 70 year member of the Walter P. Bruce VFW Post # 1146 of St. Clair Shores, serving as a past commander. He was also a member of the FOP. Beloved husband of Gloria. Dear father of Billie (Stephen) Samoranski, loving grandfather of Toni (Joseph) Hoopingarner, great grandfather of Noah Hoopingarner and his sister Jean (the late Harold) Schindler. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Maude Custer. Visitation Thursday, August 25 from 3-9pm with a funeral service 12 noon Friday at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Avenue, St Clair Shores. Inurnment Great Lakes National Cemetery.
