Samuel Charles McAlister, age 75, passed away on June 3, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1948 at home in St. Clair Shores, Michigan to his dear parents Hughie and Ola Mae McAlister. Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Gayle; loving daughter: Margaret (John) Cypoth; dear grandsons: Brennan, Ryan, Nicholas; sisters: Janie (the late Johnnie) Sey, Ruth (the late Peter) Sandora; brother: John Buhrie; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons: Jay and James McAlister; brothers: Bobby, Butch; and sisters: Louada and Louise.
Sam proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of St. Clair Shores for 15 years. Sam enjoyed making bullets to go target shooting with as he had retired from hunting. He was a book of knowledge and could fix anything; he was also a Detroit Tigers fan, even in their bleak performances. Sam had the biggest heart and those who met him instantly loved him. He was a very proud man and his family was always first. He had a laugh that was infectious; you couldn’t help but laugh when you heard him laughing.
