Robert (Bob) Michielutti, age 94, of St. Clair Shores passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 13, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Mary Cannon Michielutti for 59 years. Loving father of his children: Teri (Enrique) Flores, Angela (Phillip Johnson), Anne (Gerard) Bouret, Robert Jr. (Carolyn) and John (Michele); and grandchildren: Eric (Holly), Sean (Sally), KJ, Claire, Laure, Emily (John), Robert III, Megan (Chase), Thomas (Olivia), and Nina. Cherished by many loving nieces, nephews, and wonderful caregivers.
Bob was born in 1929 to Angelo and Teresa Michielutti who emigrated from the Friuli region of Italy. Born the second of two sons, he and his older brother Clemente (aka Mate) were influenced by their parents’ northern Italian heritage. He grew up on the east side of Detroit where he attended St. Catherine’s High School. After graduating from the University of Detroit, Bob and his brother, Mate, began working full time with their father in the family business and eventually developed it into a highly-respected tile, marble, and terrazzo contracting company, Michielutti Bros., Inc. He was past president of both the Detroit Ceramic Tile Contractors Association and Detroit Terrazzo Contractors Association as well as longtime trustee of the BAC Local 2 Tile, Marble and Terrazzo Pension, Health and Welfare Funds. Bob was also active in his community and served on the Lakeview Board of Education for many years. Devoted to God and his Catholic faith all of his life, he was dedicated to his church and always generous with his time, talent, and treasure. In his later years, he served as leader of his parish’s St. Vincent DePaul Society. Bob will be missed by many whose lives he touched and impacted in a positive way.

Instate Saturday, April 20 at 9:30 am. Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores.
