Michael Thomas Ziegler

He began his career in 1969 as a busboy in the old Jim’s Garage bar in Detroit. Over a period of 11 years he advanced himself through all of the positions to that of assistant manager. In 1980 he moved on to serve as general manager in Crews Inn and in 1984 to Candles on the Lake, both in Harrison Township, and in 1987 to East 59th Street Restaurant in Mount Clemens.

He took his career in a new direction in 1990 accepting the positions of Sales Manager and Cost Estimator for Forms – Kool Manufacturing Inc., of Mount Clemens, where he worked calculating job proposals for independent contractors. Mike opened coast to coast markets for new products, greatly increasing sales.

1993 found him returning to the hospitality service as General Manager and Managing Partner of the Unique Restaurant Corporation. Mike ran Front of House and Back of House operations, managing inventory, controlling costs, doing profit and loss statements, budget, hiring, training, scheduling of hourly and management employees on a day to day basis. Mastering these duties made him Manager of the Year in 1997.

Seeking new horizons, he took on property maintenance for the Williamsburg Townhouse Co-op in St. Clair Shores. There Mike applied his artistry to upgrading residences in transition from owner to owner. He combined the fields of rough and finish carpentry, drywall work, electrical and plumbing to enhance the interior environments. Outside he applied his art to landscaping improvements as well as regular maintenance of the grounds.

He is survived by his brother Kurt and sister-in-law Cheryl. While mourning the loss, of the love of his life Debra, Mike was a devoted uncle to Eric Jr., Scott, Jacob and Alexander Ziegler, Jeffrey Jr., Grace Hannah and Janelle Yansens, Jessica, Sean and Krista Sabin, .

There will be visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 in the Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. Funeral Service will be offered on Thursday morning, May 25, at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home.
