Mary Patricia Greer, age 87, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, formerly of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away on July 8, 2022. She was born on March 9, 1935 to the parents of Philip and Jean McCartney. Wife of 22 years to the late Thomas J. Greer. Mother to Brian (Melanie) Greer. Mary was born and raised in Detroit. She graduated from St. Gregory’s High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Her professional career began at Parke-Davis working as a researcher, but she soon took a job as a biology professor at Macomb Community College where she taught for over 30 years. In retirement, Mary was a volunteer with the Red Cross performing disaster relief in Macomb County and in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. She was an avid world traveler, and enjoyed gardening, birding, attempting to fly-fish, and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Mary will lie in-state at 9:30 am until time of mass at 10:30 am, at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile Rd., Warren, Michigan 48088.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Mary are suggested to Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
