Francesco “Frank” Canu, of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2022 at the age of 87. He was born on June 16, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents Giovanni and Jenny Canu.
Frank was the beloved husband of Johanne for 67 years. Loving father to David (Suzanne), Kathy (Steve) Furlong, Laurie (Ron) Hanson, and Steven (Aileen). Dear grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 20. He is also survived by his brother Peter (Virginia) Canu. Frank was also preceded in death by his brother, John (Marilyn) Canu and great-granddaughter, Adalyn Hanson.
Frank and Johanne spent 67 years building a life and legacy with their family and friends. His proudest family moments could not possibly fit in a few paragraphs. Becoming a father, followed by the birth of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled his life with happiness and love. He loved boating on his Bit O Honey, skiing the slopes, hunting, and fishing at his cabin up north. He enjoyed a wonderful life with his family and friends.
At the age of 29, in 1967, Frank became a partner of building a successful printing company, Clark Graphics Service, from which he retired in 2003. Frank earned the reputation of being a fair and caring boss, and an extremely talented craftsmen within the graphics arts industry. He shared that knowledge with his two sons and for many years they worked side by side.
Frank lived his life with kindness, generosity, and laughter. He would want to be remembered by his family and friends as being a kind, caring, and hardworking man who cherished all things.
