Sargent, Earl, died April 7, 2013. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy Ellen (Gray). Earl is survived by his son Nicholas (Julie Dutcher), close friends Bill Johnson, Cathy Garten and Bill Lathan, granddaughters Emily and Erin and great grandsons Oscar and Dale. Also survived by his sister Vernetta Everett and many loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his parents Ollie and Virgie (Lewis) Sargent and his brothers McCoy, Norcross, Recil, Taulbee and his sisters Mattie Davidson, Valda Underwood, Sonia Peyton and Jacquelynn Maiuri. Earl was a long time employee and retiree of Detroit Public Schools as an Operating Engineer belonging to Local 547. He was an avid archery hunter, amazing gardener and expert pool player, known locally as Earl the Pearl. Earl was born in Blaze Kentucky September 15, 1924. He was employed in military aviation during WWII and then afterwards served in the US Army Air Corp. Earl was well known for his kindness, generosity, friendliness, and his dapper good looks and charm. He loved and was loved by all his many friends and neighbors. There will be a memorial service at First English Lutheran Church at 800 Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods on Friday, May 3rd at 11:00 am.
