My deepest condolences to Maria, Andres and Dorothy!

Dave was an awesome devoted Husband, Father, Son and friend. There are no words that can express how much he will be missed. I would like to share the following poem to his family and friends.

Maria, Andres, Dorothy:
I am so sorry for your loss.  
I remember when Spike was born:  Mike and I were both around 17 years old.  My favorite memories of Spike were the get-togethers:   Whether they were parties at Cindy and Spanky’s, or camping.
Spike was a joy to be around.  He was always upbeat and fun loving.  I was so glad we got to visit a few weeks back.  
He left us way too soon.   My heart is with all of you.

I remember when Dave and I were kids, 17 yrs old, Dave would come pick me up in his Ford Escort.  This thing was on its last leg and Dave had a house speaker blasting out of the hatch back, haha haha.  We would ride around listening to real rap, Eric B. & Rakim "Paid in Full", loved and miss those days with my buddy.  There was an incident where Dave was seriously injured and I will never forget rushing him to the hospital not knowing how serious it was.  When I found out the extent of the injuries, I wasn't confident that Dave would pull through.  When he did, that was when I realized how strong of a person he was.  He didn't allow his injuries to deter his accomplishments in life.  It was at that point when Dave became an example and inspiration to me.  You will never be forgotten and always missed my brother.  Thank you for your friendship.

Dave Hensley, you were like a second father to me for so many years. You were always loving and caring towards everyone around you. So many wonderful memories with the three of you, all thanks Andres and I being in band together in middle school. That's where it all started. From the first Cedar Pointe, trip to Disney World, to the four of us in New York for New Year's Eve, camping out in the McDonald's (although, the ride home sure was scary). There was never a dull moment. You will truly be missed. Rest in peace.

Love you Uncle Dave. My favorite memory is on the Chicago trip for Rebecca's birthday. One night me and you went out and walked the city, stopping in at blues clubs and going for famous Chicago style Coney dogs. Your diverse group of friends and involvement in life will always be an inspiration to me. Hope you and Dad are having a blast.

My dear dear friend Dave, oh the memories that I hold. Our children going to dances and prom,
 all of our chaperone trips from Middle School all through High School especially the trip from Toronto when we had to wait for the three buses of kids to be searched by Customs while we sat in your van waiting and waiting for them to finish searching the buses but the best part of that whole weekend was the donut box on the top of the dashboard that donut box went back and forth but it was in Dave's van,  Dave's donuts and it was the party van of chaperones. Being on the Grosse Pointe North band and Orchestra Booster Board with you was fantastic from Pops and pastries to tailgating . Dave  your energy your continuous service and volunteering everywhere from Red Baron's football to Boy Scouts to Band and Orchestra to the Masons. Your enthusiasm for Life as a whole was huge every day you came across as it was the best day of your life you made each day a fun time for yourself as well as those around you. Everyone else was more important than yourself and you showed it. You David Wayne Hensley and your wife Maria are shining examples of what a wonderful loving couple should look like. You're fine example for your son as what a true man and father should be. Apart of my heart is broken but there's a huge piece of you in it forever I love you Dave Hensley rest in peace, With much love and respect,  Marie 

I have so many favorite memories with you Uncle Dave. I loved eating from different pizza places with you every Friday night. You would usually rent movies to watch, and 99% of the time I had never heard of the movies. I still hear your voice saying, "girl you have never seen this movie?! It's a classic!"
I miss arguing with you about who's better...U of M or Michigan State. I enjoyed our talks about making future goals, and reaching for what we wanted in life.
I loved watching you care for Andres and Aunt Maria. You were such a dedicated father and loving husband. Your life on earth ended too soon, but I know we will all reunite someday. Hope you're hanging out with my dad up there. I love you Uncle Dave. 

In memory of a great friend who touched the lives of so many.  The photo was taken November 4, 2007 Grosse Pointe North Red Barons JV Varsity Coaches.  Dave was an active supporter and volunteer of the Grosse Pointe Red Barons youth football program.  Dave volunteered as a assistant coach and latter was a key member of the organization acting as our AD (Athletic Director).  Dave ensured  every child was properly outfitted with proper equipment and that all the coaches had what they needed for practice and game day.  

My fondest memories are when David showed himself often as being altruistic and willing to give freely countless hours of volunteer work to benefit others in support of numerous worthy causes.  You will be truly missed but never forgotten my friend.  


I worked with David at DWSD.  We became friends later in my career and shared a love of music and politics... as a union rep we tried to work out problems ethically and fairly.  He was a good man and will be missed by his friends.  May God comfort you in your loss and time of need, but remember the good times, the fun, the love of this teddy bear's big heart!  ella

This is one of my favorite memories: When Dave was little, every Christmas Eve, Mike and I would take Dave out in the car around 10pm, turn on the CB, drive around the neighborhood, so we could listen to the "Santa Sightings". This was so their Mom & Dad could get all the presents under the tree, Dave would be so excited! Especially when Mike asked on the CB if Santa was close by. They confirmed it for him, we'd take Dave back home and see that Santa had been there!  Mike was so proud of his "little" brother and all his accomplishments. Two brothers in Heaven.
