Charlotte Hilda McGill

We are sad to announce the passing of Charlotte H. McGill of Harrison Township, Michigan. Charlotte was born in Detroit on September 20, 1928, and was with us until May 26, 2023. She graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit, MI. She was married to James J. McGill on May 6, 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McGill, her infant daughter Susan, her mother Hilda (Lang) Schmidt and father, Roy A. Schmidt, her brother Howard Schmidt, sister June (Schmidt) Gibson and her nieces Gail Schmidt and MaryAnn Gibson.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Charlotte was godmother to niece Nancy Dagle and nephews, Chuck Gibson and Rick Schmidt.

She has chosen cremation through Kaul Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores, MI. She is being laid to rest with her husband, Jim, with interment of ashes at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. Her memorial is graveside on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 am.

She shared her love of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions with her nieces and nephews, taking them to many games. Charlotte loved sewing, music and dancing at Metro Beach, living on Lake St. Clair, seeing the boats, ducks and her caring neighbors who she enjoyed daily. She passed on her legacy of her garden to Denise, her neighbor and friend, who has learned to take care of the flowers. Charlotte was happiest when spending time with children and was a mom and aunt to everyone, taking care of 50 plus children for love.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the American Cancer Society in honor of her husband or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital since she loved babies and children so much.
