Setting Sail on the Next Voyage
Stan was the beloved husband of Mary Jane for 55 great years. He was a terrific father to Greg, Kim, Leslie and Susan. He was unashamedly proud of his children’s spouses, and 9 truly amazing grand, and great children. He was a devoted son to Vernon and Marion, and brother to Arnot, Ross and Eunice. He was a true friend to some of the most interesting cast of characters anywhere.
At an early age, Stan was elected “King” of Victoria elementary school, the “Rotary Medal” winner at St Catharine’s Collegiate, and was honored by his University of Western Ontario Business School classmates with the “Outstanding Spirit” award. Later, Stan enjoyed a successful business career in Canada and the United States, retiring as Chairman and CEO of MMBD Advertising Agency. Stan was a lifelong fitness enthusiast and prodigious eater. He was the founding Tenor of the “Fellowship Four” Gospel Quartet, and a self-described “hack” piano, guitar & ukulele player at parties and family gatherings. He loved to go to Church on Sunday and sing praise to the Lord.
Stan enjoyed a truly amazing life, but if pressed he would have described himself as the skipper of his cutter-rig sloop “Aquila Chase”, sailing through a blessed life -- raising the family he was so proud of, and having a little fun along the way.
Friends and family are welcome for visitation at Hulse & English at 75 Church St in St. Catharines from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday June 24th, and a Memorial Service led by Arnot McIntee on Wednesday June 25th at 11am in the Hulse & English Chapel. Donations to the Heart & Stroke and Cancer funds. Let’s help Stan to set sail on his next voyage.
