My husband and I have been seeing Rob as our chiropractor for 14 years. He had become a friend through the years. Our little guys used his crib from his son Colton. My husband and I were so happy when we return from BC in 1998 to find such good Chiropractor.  Little did we know at the time we would also find a friend.  I think that was the case with most of his patients.  Long conversations in the office, sharing pictures.  He was always trying to help people not only as a doctor.  You will be so missed. I was deeply saddened by the news of Rob's passing.  Please accept my heart felt condolences to the family.

Spent a lot of time with Rob coaching hockey over the past number of years.  Missed him this past year, I have a lot of great memories of Rob he was so good with all the kids.  Dedicated, funny, competitive, happy, Rob always tried to keep things positive, encourage the kids, entertain the siblings, Rob was a remarkable individual.  A sad time for us all.

Robbie, if our time on Earth was measured by love, we wouldn't be grieving. However, I truly believe that it is God who determines when we go to Heaven.
Rob is so blessed and honoured that he has so many amazing people in his life, past, present and future. As were we all! 
Rob's most precious moments in life were as a father to his most treasured son Colton,  a son of our loving parents, Rosemary and Bill,  an admired brother and brother-in-law of myself, Janette, Bill, Wayne and Rachel,  an adored uncle to Blaire, Kevin, Dawson, Evan, Catherine,Grant. Madelyn and Abby.   An honoured friend of Corey, Kevin M, Billy P, Kenny and Kevin C, Sean, Derek, Scott, Mike, Alex, Jeff, Lily, and many many more awesome people, a God parent to two,   
a grandson,  a nephew, a cousin and second cousin to an incredible family, as a dedicated Chiropractor/friend to so many clients and a devoted friend to those young and old in the sports world.
Although Rob touched so many lives, he wanted nothing more than to be with the love of his life, Colton, every second of everyday! He wanted nothing less than his incredible childhood for his son, Colts. Rob is the youngest child of Rosemary and Bill. They were so incredibly blessed that their family was now complete with 2 boys and 2 girls. Rob had a wonderful, adventurous and loving childhood. Get togethers, birthdays, milestones, family reunions, and holidays were celebrated extraordinarily and often (any excuse for a party!)  
The neighbourhood in that which our family still reside, was full of friends that became family. Friends were welcome anytime by Rob's parents and still are (keys were given out like candy at halloween). It was double the pleasures because Rob and his brother were only 13 months a part.  Growing up, what one brother wouldn't think of, the other one did.  There were even times when Rob would bite his own arm or pinch himself to get Billy in trouble. Mom, Billy pinched me  Poor Billy, cause he got away with it for years! The golden boy!  They even had to suffer the same outfits, but different colours, but boy they looked cute!
In the days that you came home when the streetlights came on, Rob would spend countless hours with his brother and friends out backyards, the churchyard, and our park There were go carts, mini bikes, you name it! Lots of fun! 
Robbie worked hard and played hard. Many of nights when Rob fell asleep in the familyroom, my sister and I would carry him upstairs, one holding his hands the other swinging his legs. He was often dropped or bumped, while we laughed so hard, but he never awoke and was then tucked into bed.
Every Friday night was a trip to Pop shop to pick out our favourite flavours, then home to enjoy icecream floats, chips and popcorn with tons of butter, while our family gathered to watch Brady Bunch, Partridge family, Dukes of Hazzard, Gillians Island and Happy Days. Or play pacman on Atari or board games such as scrabble and monoply. While taking turns to brush mom's hair counting to 100 strokes.  
Everynight, not just Friday was a great time, especially at meal time. The days when we all ate at the table and had homemade dessert with a cup of tea.Every meal ended with one of us running to the sink to spit out our tea or blowing bubbles of it from our nose because we were laughing so hard.  Wayne was dumbfounded that Rob had a special order many of nights, a ham sandwich. While the rest of us ate prime rib steaks or roast beef and yorkshire pudding, if Rob wasn't feeling it, his mom quickly made him his favourite, a ham sandwich.
Although Rob's childhood was like Disney World everyday, our parents planned many vacations. Yes going to the real Disney World, as well as, Camping trips at Darien Lake, Papa Holbrooks cottage, Paudash Lake and Rice Lake where Rob enjoyed fishing (our mom is the expert Fisherwoman), boating, tubing, campfires-one time he helped start the campfire with gasoline, lets just say the hudson bay blankets came in handy-which I took the blame for by the way.  Laughter, adventure, love and togetherness was always the common theme!
Then there were the sports, mostly along side our brother, Billy. Soccer, tennis, lacrosse, swimming and hockey organized and just for fun. In the summer the kids would be lined up at the gate to come swimming and in the winter, our dad had the best ice rink in the backyard, hosing at 430 am before he went off to work.  Our parents coached some of Rob's sports and decided to retire after their first hotel stay for a lacrosse tournament out of town. They figured once they had fed all the players pizza, they would settle in their rooms-WRONG!!!!
Rob was on many school teams as well, even the wrestling team in highschool. He was a scrawny ronnie and I remember him measuring in the mirror in hopes that he grew an inch that day! Needless to say, he became 7th in all Ontario for High school wrestling.  He was a very active participant at Parnall, Dalewood and Lakeport. He received many metals, trophies and awards which included Athlete of the Year and 3 Scholarships for University.    
Rob also found time to be a heart throb. He was such a charmer ( his big blue eyes came in handy) and always a gentleman. His girlfriends quickly became part of the family.
Rob just wasn't a pretty face though, he had the smarts too!!!  He was quickly accepted to all his University choices and decided to go to Waterloo. His next decision was Optometrist or Chiropractor?  His family and friends would drive up to Chiropractic College in Toronto on weekends so he could practice all the latest techniques.  In the evenings, he rollerbladed around T.O and checked out all the fine establishments (at grad, our parents were shocked that so many bartenders knew him by name).
Those who knew Rob as a chiropractor, knew he made the right choice! He went above and beyond his responsibilities as a Chiropractor,  such as driving to Port Colbourne all winter to be the chiropractor of the Port Colburne Sailors Hockey team, ( never taking a dime),  comforting collocky babies ( our family thought he should have been a Pediatrician or open a Daddy Daycare),  fixing a dislocated foot after a medical doctor said there was nothing wrong,  and running to the office on a Good Friday, sending a patient to the ER after diagnosing him with kidney stones.  Rob was always an attentive listener and caring advisor and his appointments often lingured well after an adjustment was given. He cared about his patients wellbeing not just their backs and they quickly became friends not just clients. He loved his Chiropractor community!
Before Colton, we were fortunate to have Rob practice his fatherhood skills on our children, Blaire, Dawson, Kevin, Evan, Madelyn and Abby.  He was their biggest fan and even coached their hockey with Kiwanas.  Catherine and Grant got the refined version since they are younger than Colts. There was no doubt, Rob should have had 5 more kids. He was with family at every opportunity. He knew everything about them and their friends. They so admired their cool, outgoing, loving Uncle that was always so personable and made them feel so special! They liked his black jeep and and gift of a real bunny too-which I might add lived at our house.  He always remembered the little things in life, that are really the big things in life. The older they got the more he became not only an Uncle but a friend that they could always count on! They always knew that he would jump through hoops for them.  Congrats Evan for scoring 4 goals and 4 assists for Uncle Rob at lacrosse last night!
Rob's proudest moment in life is when his son, Colton Robert was born on May 13, 2004. It was a very special day indeed!  Our parents paced in the waiting room during the delivery and our families raced from school as quickly as we could.  Rob didn't care that his nephews and nieces were sweaty and dirty from track and field. He just couldn't wait to introduce them to his bundle of joy, Colton.  The bond that the Armitages shared became stronger as Colton entered the best family ever!
Rob and Colton were so intertwined. His mission was to give Colton nothing less than the childhood that he once had. They enjoyed day trips like to Thomas the Train in St. Thomas and Armitage Village (named after our family) in Newmarket, weekends upnorth with neighbours and at Colton's great Uncles' cottage.
Rob is the most nurturing, fun, caring and devoted father that there ever was.  Colton would even call out to him during the night if he had awaken from a dream or didn't feel good, Those daddy calls, sent Rob racing to Colton's side.  Love, wisdom, and above and beyond support.
Then school came for Colton! Rob was so proud of what a great friend Colton is to everyone and how hard Colton works (Like father, Like son).  Rob would take Wednesday mornings off to volunteer in Colton's classroom. Even going to Brock University on the bus, usually the only dad, so he'd miss the play while he took all the boys to the bathroom.  You know kindergarten kids, once one has to go they all do! And recently being the Royal Reader (crown and cape, no kidding). They shared those precious moments as well as concerts, school sports and track.
Then came all the organized sports for Colton. Hmmmm our parents always say what comes around, goes around and they were right!!  Rob took pure delight in his roles as a coach, trainer, fundraiser, jokester, and biggest mini-stick and thumb-war competitor at all the hotel stays, and most of all the BIGGEST fan!  Rob also became a role model and friend to many teammates, their siblings and parents. He thoroughly enjoyed their interactions.  
Rob was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf Fan his whole life (we won't hold that against him), He had so much fun with Colton, being a Pittsburg Penguins fan. Colton also loved Jonathon Toews and was excited when he got a Chicago Toews jersey from his nana and papa one Christmas. You brought them good luck Colton, winning the Stanley cup this year! (we won't tell Sid).
Colton and Rob shared a bond above Father and son, they were truly best friends.  The only times we could recall Rob not being with Colton was when he went to a Nickelback concert, only after many invites from his friend, the guitarist, to join the band on their bus and back stage, a golf tournament fundraiser and tribute for lifetime friend, Gatenby's dad, and for his dear friend 's surprise 40th- Steph with the red shoes that he loved!! He treasured every moment with his son and best friend, Colton!
Throughout Rob's journey, his greatest satisfaction and joy was his involvement, dedication, selflessness and devotion put forth in the best interest of his son Colton. He will continue to do so from above, Colton.  You have the best Guardian Angel ever that will be with you always and everywhere!!  
From our parents Rob continued to teach us all how very important family is. FAMILY IS EVERYTHING! Colton is our family and no doubt that Rob's legacy will live on within Colton!
As with all of us, Rob will be a part of who we are and who we've become. He will forever be held in our hearts and memories, a man for all that is important. Thank-you Rob for being so much to everyone. We are forever grateful and lucky that you are part of our hearts and souls. You have positively shaped our lives in so many ways!
Rob was the most kind hearted person we will ever know, so remember to be kind and lead with your heart. If more people, even just a few, could be more like you, this world would be such a better place.  
We all wish we had more time with you Rob but we know that you're not gone and will always stay near to us.  
We are all so blessed to have such a Perfect Angel while you were here, and now from Heaven.
We look forward to the continued influences, miracles, kindness, values and love that you will continue to prosper and inspire.

The Neheli family was deeply saddened when we learned of Rob's passing - we are so sorry. Having just gone through this with my Mom I know how difficult the next few days will be for the family. The feeling of loss will be extremely difficult  - you will however find comfort in the company of family and friends.

Janette, I was saddened to read of the passing of your brother Rob.  We trust you will find peace at this time of great loss.

Rob Armitage was our childrens first hockey coach with the Kiwanis Penguins. He was motivational, friendly, fun and truly inspired all the kids to live up to their potential... it didn't matter if they couldn't skate or couldn't shoot... he would celebrate all the players small victories throughout the season. His love of hockey was obvious as was his son Colton's incredible talent level and love of the game.
Rob went on the following year to be the trainer for the GCMHA Tyke 1 Falcons and he continued as the team's trainer for the next 2 seasons as they became the Niagara North Stars. Rob was truly an integral part of the team. Loved by his players and trusted by parents to look after their superstars on and off the ice. Rob was a dedicated volunteer, in 4 seasons I can't recall a game he missed. He was always the first to offer help... he was always the first to fundraise... he always took the time to ask how you were... he always took an interest in each and every player. Coach Rob will be greatly missed.

"Dr Rob" has been a wonderful friend to me and my husband for over 15 years. He has treated all our various aches and pains and often times those of my colleagues and out of town visitors on an emergency basis. 
When he treated me last week, he was devastated at having not seen Colton recently. He appeared to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Now, those of us who loved him are each carrying a portion of that weight. Our shoulders and hearts are very heavy. I was deeply saddened to hear of Rob's passing.  I have such wonderful memories of Rob throughout our school days.  He was a wonderful person.  He will be missed.  With Deepest Sympathy and Love to your family.
