December 11 1961 - August 25 2024
It is with broken hearts we share that after a brief and stoic battle, Patrick Robson passed away on August 25th. Patrick chose to face his final days on this earth with bravery, spending them at home surrounded by the people he loved deeply, telling jokes, sharing memories, and taking one last turn as the wise owl of the Robson clan.
Patrick was a loving husband of forty years to Kelly, a devoted father to Shelbi (Kevin) and Quinn (Maddie), and a proud Papa to Fenix and Dez. He was a brother to Kathi (Dan), Jessica (Mike), and Lisa (Mick), a brother in law to Rick (Donna) and Barry (Robin) & Lorraine, an inspiring Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a loyal friend to many who all share in this profound loss. He is predeceased by his parents, Jessie Ross & Roger Robson, two brothers, David & Daniel, and his in-laws, Jim & Shirley Robertson.
Patrick was well educated and had a very fulfilled and diversified career. Patrick was a planner with the Niagara Escarpment Commission, an Officer with The Ontario Human Rights Commission, Sole Proprietor of Willow Bay Consulting, served as Alderman for 3 terms with the Township of Wainfleet, and held various roles with significant responsibility and leadership at the Region of Niagara. His final post was teaching in the Environmental Management Program at Niagara College as a Professor. His only wish was that he should have chosen teaching earlier such that, in his words, he could help bend more young minds.
He gave his time and talent to numerous boards and organisations that aligned with his core values and interests, including YMCA Niagara and the Peace Bridge Authority.
Patrick lived a full life with purpose and passion and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved to spend his time reading, gardening, writing, canning, exercising, volunteering and enjoying various aspects of philosophy. During the summer he enjoyed spending time on the farm in Wainfleet and in his later years, tending to his & Kelly’s passion project, Hip Hopyard. One of his greatest joys in the last 6 years was spending time with his grandchildren.
Please join us in honouring his life on Friday, September 6th at 11AM at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, 250 St. Paul Street, St.Catharines. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St. St.Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations to honour Patrick’s legacy can be made to the Niagara Community Foundation or to YMCA of Niagara.
